In the Corona crisis, millions of people have lost their lives. Many journalists, who used to work to reach the public the news related to Corona, have also died during this period. Out of these, it has been decided to provide financial assistance to the family of 67 journalists.
It has been informed by the government that information has been collected about the journalists who lost their lives due to corona in the year 2020, 2021. Now, financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs is being given to their families by the Central Government.
The government has provided this help to the families of 26 journalists in this financial year, while in the last financial year, the families of 41 journalists were provided this help. Details of the family of these journalists were taken out by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), after which they were guided to claim financial help.
The committee, which will pass the financial assistance, will now meet every week, so that the journalists whose families are appealing for financial help can be cleared.
Significantly, the Corona crisis period is about two years in India, so far more than three lakh people have lost their lives. During the Corona period, field work was done continuously by journalists, which was the reason that many state governments gave the status of frontline workers to journalists during the vaccination.
