International Yoga Day 2021: Many yoga gurus of India have played an important role in taking yoga across the world, who took yoga to the whole world and made people aware of yoga. Let’s know about some such yoga gurus-
Tirumalai Krishnamacharya is credited with reviving hatha yoga and vinyasa. He is also called the father of modern yoga. He had knowledge of both Ayurveda and Yoga. He had traveled all over India to promote yoga.
Swami Sivananda Saraswati
Shivanand was a doctor by profession. He wrote about 18 characteristics of a yogi. He also wrote more than 200 books on Yoga, Vedanta and many other subjects. According to him, a yogi should be of a funny nature and humor should be kept in his yoga. The credit for introducing the world to Trimurti Yoga goes to him.

K. Pattabhi Joyce
K. Pattabhi Joyce developed the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga style. His followers included big names like Madonna, Sting and Gwyneth Paltrow. He became famous for his Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
BKS Iyengar took yoga out of India and spread it all over the world. He introduced the world to Iyengar Yoga by redefining the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. He also has a yoga school by the name of Ayyagar Yoga. Through this, he worked to make people aware of yoga.
Paramahansa Yogananda is credited with introducing meditation and Kriya Yoga to the western world. He is also known for his book Autobiography of a Yogi. He spent most of his life in America. At the same time, he spread the knowledge of yoga and meditation all over the world.
