who was Vinayak Damodar Savarkar
Born on 28 May 1883 in Mumbai, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a revolutionary as well as a writer, advocate and a great supporter of the ideology of Hindutva. During the freedom movement, the British punished Savarkar for black water. Savarkar died in 1966 on 26 February.
Even at the present time, Savarkar is not untouched by the politics of the country. On the one hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calls Savarkar an important freedom fighter, while on the same side it is always alleged by the Congress that he had appealed to the British several times to reduce the punishment. There has been a lot of fighting between the two parties over this issue.
